Featured Guest Speakers
|
At Shaped For Service, we will have an extraordinary opportunity
to hear from, and interact with,
amazing disciples of Jesus who have allowed
God to shape their hearts and lives in order to be prepared for the
exact situations in which God has placed them.
|

Rev. Dr. Aisand Wright-Riggins |
The
Reverend Dr. Aisand Wright-Riggins
serves as the executive director of the American Baptist Home Mission
Societies, formerly known as National Ministries. In that capacity, Dr.
Wright-Riggins provides visionary leadership to ABHMS’s wide-ranging
ministries of discipleship, missional leadership, and caring for people
in need. He says of himself, "I am unapologetically evangelical,
unashamedly ecumenical and unabashedly committed to the emancipation of
all people from personal and public sin and selfishness. If we can walk
in the reality that we are found, free, full and forgiven, faithfulness
and fruitfulness will be the legacy of our lives and ministry." Dr.
Wright-Riggins will bring the message during Friday night’s worship, and
will be available for conversation throughout the day on Saturday.

Rev. Dagoberto and Dilia Zelaya |
The
Reverend Dagoberto and Dilia Zelaya
were recently approved as endorsed missionary candidates with
International Ministries to serve children in need through the Fe Vida
Nueva (Faith New Life) Children’s Home in Azacualpa, Honduras. Dago and
Dilia will share on Saturday how God used Hurricane Mitch in 1998 to
further shape their lives and refine their vision of providing a home
for children in need in their native country, while at the same time
planting a church that reaches out and provides ministry to the
community. They are members of First Baptist Church of Marshalltown and
are Mid-American Baptist Churches’ newest Special Interest Missionaries.

Kristy Engel, RN, MSN, CPNP |
Kristy
Engel, RN, MSN, CPNP,
has served as a medical missionary with International Ministries in the
Dominican Republic since 2000. She coordinates mobile medical clinics
to approximately 120 villages within an hour’s drive of La Romana, while
also directing the work of some 70+ medical, construction and evangelism
teams from a variety of churches, organizations, and educational
institutions in the United States who come every year to the DR. On
Saturday, you will hear how God uniquely shaped and positioned Kristy to
respond to the overwhelming needs in Haiti following the devastating
earthquake there earlier this year. Kristy is a member of First Baptist
Church of Keokuk, Iowa, and one of our region’s Special Interest
Missionaries. |
All activities will be held at historic Pilgrim
Baptist Church unless otherwise noted.
